Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages a sufficient backlog of planned routine and shutdown work for all electrical and instrumentation areas of the plant.
- Captures and utilizes approved scheduling tools and methodologies to schedule all non-emergency Maintenance Department work.
- Works with Operations department leadership to develop, maintain, and utilize for scheduling purposes a top-ten list of approved work orders.
- Coordinates scheduling efforts with departmental leadership to minimize work scheduling conflicts.
- Facilitates scheduled completion of repair work per agreed upon job priorities.
- Champions the maintenance work flow process and works with the Maintenance Manager to address issues/failures of the work process as they occur.
- Oversees the management of work request and work order backlog.
- Ensures job planning is performed in accordance with company guidelines, building “job packages” utilizing new or archived job plans.
- Utilizes accepted project management methodologies to develop outage schedules; coordinating activities of the outage planning team.
- Develops and reports project critical path in regards to outages being scheduled.
- Works with Procurement group to develop job scope for contracted services and leads the effort to identify and award contract work.
- Coordinates with all departments to identify proper job scope for all outage work and coordinates scope change management to minimize unforeseen scope creep.
- Leads lessons learned process and assists in the improvement of standardized outage processes company-wide.
- Tracks and reports maintenance and reliability metrics, expenditures, and performance to budget for maintenance department.
- Planner materials, resources and labor and develop detailed schedules for major maintenance initiatives.
- Ensures sufficient amount of work is planned to satisfy production needs as well as the available man-hour capacity.
- Discusses work orders with others as appropriate to ensure understanding of scope of work required, determining if work is capital or expense.
- Continually reviews backlog list to eliminate duplicate orders, optimize utilization of resources and ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Creates and uses job plans lists for repetitive jobs.
- Creates and uses BOM's where appropriate.
- Reviews and audits executed plans to improve efficiency and effectiveness of work order planning process.
- Participates in bidding process and requisitioning for third party services.
- Makes sure work activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintains compliance with company plant safety rules and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Maintains compliance with appropriate federal, State and local environmental regulations, reports and notifies appropriate plant personnel of any deviations per established standards.
- Performs incident investigations as required, including reporting incidents to appropriate personnel, completing required documentation, recommending and implementing corrective actions, and communicating findings as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; 5-7 years related experience in a heavy industrial environment with at least 3 years in a planning/scheduling capacity. Previous supervisory or contract management experience preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) required, Maximo preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of Microsoft Project experience.
- Knowledge of power distribution and instrumentation and controls (I&C).
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, motor controls, conveyor systems, machine shop practices, and other industrial maintenance skills.
- Ability to read schematics and blue prints.
