Maintenance Planner
Fully on-site role bridging maintenance execution and production needs to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support safe, efficient plant operations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safe practices are used by maintenance employees and promote a safe work environment.
- Review notifications daily, assigning planner responsible.
- Forward non-planned jobs to Maintenance Scheduler for scheduling.
- Manage and update all jobs from your Worklist.
- Plan maintenance work for upcoming outages.
- Order parts/material when needed and add to BOMs daily.
- Organize maintenance planning meetings with production departments.
- Coordinate repair prioritization with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.
- Secure contractors to complete onsite work when needed, including obtaining quotes, issuing requisitions, and completing goods receipts.
- Conduct contractor check-ins when planned jobs are executed by contractors.
- Create Standard Job Plans for quick reference.
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, and off-shift schedules as needed to support operations.
- Properly plan maintenance jobs by providing:
- Purpose/Scope of the work order.
- Job step sequence (operations).
- Physical verification of parts/material on hand, signed out and kitted/palletized.
- Safety-related issues (LOTO, special PPE requirements, special hazards, required permits, etc.).
- Manpower needed.
- Total job duration.
- Procedures needed.
- Equipment drawings.
- Specifications and tolerances (torque requirements, wear limits).
- Special tools and equipment (cranes, lifts, special hand tools).
- Testing requirements.
Requirements
- Proficient with a PC and Microsoft suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Ability to efficiently navigate the CMMS (SAP) and assist with deploying full utilization of the system.
- Knowledge of maintenance activities and tasks to compose detailed job plans effectively.
- Ability to think creatively and problem-solve to ensure optimal equipment production and reduce downtime.
- Clear and concise written & verbal communication skills; ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced, production-oriented work environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and rationalize situations for good conflict resolution.
- Capable of completing work in a timely manner and promoting a positive team environment.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years in maintenance planning, reliability engineering, or industrial maintenance.
- Proficiency with SAP PM.
- Strong knowledge of plant equipment and processes (rotary kilns, conveyors, screens, mixers, presses, etc.).
- Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt (desired).
