Maintenance Mechanic Technician

About the role

AMP is hiring an evening shift 7p-7a Maintenance Mechanic Technician in Portsmouth, Virginia. The role involves maintaining and repairing all processing and support systems, troubleshooting technical issues, increasing equipment reliability through preventive maintenance, and supporting hazard identification and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all processing and support systems to specifications consistent with all Federal and State fire, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Resolve technical issues presented throughout a shift, investigate and identify a solution.
  • Increase equipment reliability through ownership of continuous improvement and preventive maintenance.
  • Demonstrate and lead by example a commitment to safe behavior and to making the plant a safer place to work.
  • Support/drive hazard identification, risk assessments, and risk controls efforts.
  • Coordinate with Plant Manager and operations closely.
  • Support preoperative and postoperative inspection of the equipment and ensure necessary repairs are entered and actioned within the CMMS.
  • Act as emergency coordinator for the plant.
  • Adheres to and ensures all company, and regulatory safety standards and rules are followed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D. certification.
  • Technical certifications are highly desired.
  • 3 (or more) years of direct experience maintaining same or similar machinery, in a production or processing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic equipment, circuits, and components.
  • Experience reading technical drawings and schematics.
  • Motor and Gearbox replacements.
  • VFD trouble shooting.

Preferred

  • Experience with industrial controls (valves, sensors, actuators, control systems, Electro Hydraulic Experience).
  • Conveyor (tracking), rollers.
  • Experience selecting appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cable, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, remote I/O, VFD and servo systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of direct experience maintaining machinery in a production or processing environment.
  • Technical certifications are preferred.
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with motor and gearbox replacements.
  • Experience with VFD troubleshooting.
  • Experience with industrial controls and systems.
