About the role

The Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor is responsible for leading maintenance systems, overseeing the continuous improvement of the process and executing long-term strategic plans.

1st, 6:30AM-4:30PM (Job Type: Full-time) | Location: Jersey City, NJ

Responsibilities

  • Observes mechanical equipment in operation to locate causes of trouble.
  • Schedule, trains, supervise and motivate employees for maintenance tasks.
  • Cookordinate work performed by outside vendors.
  • Ensure efficient repair schedules and review repair cost estimates.
  • Prioritize the maintenance and repairs of company equipment and parts.
  • Control and monitor inventory.
  • Dismantles equipment to remove and replace defective parts.
  • Adjusts functional parts of equipment and control instruments.
  • Ensure that all equipment complies with OEMs and regulatory agencies operating standards.
  • Ensure proper equipment lubrication in compliance with OEMs lubrication schedule.
  • Follows preventive maintenance works order procedures.
  • Develop familiarity with and ensure compliance with safety, health, environment and community company policies and procedures as they pertain to facility operations and equipment usage and operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • A High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Technical School Preferred
  • Previous supervisory skills in a diverse, fast-paced manufacturing/production environment
  • Excellent mechanical ability and strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to follow procedures and work from a set of written instructions
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must speak and understand English; Spanish speaking is a plus
  • One year minimum mechanical repair related experience in a heavy industrial setting or equivalent combination of education and experience

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Normal work environment is outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
