Maintenance Mechanic (Manufacturing)

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and instrumentation systems.
  • Inspect equipment for wear, leaks, hazards, and conditions requiring repair or shutdown.
  • Read and interpret SOPs, diagrams, manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Repair and maintain pumps, rotating equipment, piping systems, and associated components.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and document maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with operations, production, and engineering teams to prioritize maintenance needs.
  • Obtain and comply with safe work permits for maintenance and project activities.
  • Recommend improvements to preventative maintenance programs to increase equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and maintain compliance with all environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Support hazardous waste collection, labeling, and storage activities when necessary.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations and support plant operations as needed.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or process manufacturing plant is strongly preferred.
  • A multi-skilled maintenance background including:
    • Pump repair and alignment
    • Welding and fabrication
    • Basic electrical troubleshooting
    • Pipefitting
    • Rotating equipment maintenance
    • Preventative and predictive maintenance

Preferred Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical procedures.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, ASME, API, and related mechanical inspection standards.
  • Experience working with preventative maintenance programs and CMMS systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement.
