Repairs and maintains assigned machinery and mechanical equipment while ensuring company safety rules are followed.
Responsibilities
- Comply with Safety Policies and Procedures
- Perform preventive maintenance operations on machinery according to schedules
- Install, rebuild, and repair a wide variety of machines as directed by the Maintenance Manager/supervisor
- Restore equipment to proper functionality based on manuals and drawings
- Service and maintain a full range of building and production equipment following procedures
- Analyze, detect, and determine the nature of problems; provide input on the extent of repairs required
- Troubleshoot and select materials needed for repairs; find root cause of equipment failures
- Troubleshoot electrically up to 480 volts
- Notify Maintenance Manager of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective actions taken
- Assemble, replace, or refit parts as warranted
- Tear down and rebuild presses as needed to repair dies
- Assist with building repairs
- Replace and refit parts
- Instruct and provide technical assistance to lower-level mechanics as required
- Follow and enforce company safety policies and procedures among maintenance mechanics at all times
- All other duties as requested or assigned
Requirements
- Industrial mechanical skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, and company manuals and procedures
- Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, drill press, and other related industrial repair equipment
- Demonstrate manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
- Good communication skills; ability to read, speak, and write English (bilingual Spanish helpful)
- Ability to observe, identify, deduce, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
- Quick learner; ability to work under minimal supervision
- Math and computer skills
- Industrial electrical skills preferred
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree and/or post-high school technical training highly desired, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of related experience required (manufacturing environment preferred)
- 5+ years tearing down and rebuilding preferred
- 5+ years experience with tooling and dies
Work Environment
- Exposure to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
- Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or outside
- Prolonged standing or stationary positions
- Complete repetitive movements
- Bend and/or twist
- Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
- Work around dust, chemicals, and other substances in various environmental conditions
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision, and hardhat protection)
