About the role
RBCI is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic (HVAC) to support the Navy Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC) in Williamsburg, VA. This position involves installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC/R systems to ensure safe and efficient operation in facility and warehouse environments. 5%-10% travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC/R systems.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system malfunctions using diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on HVAC equipment, including air handling units, rooftop units, split systems, refrigeration systems, ductwork, and associated components.
- Apply knowledge of HVAC system design, airflow dynamics, temperature control, and system balancing to maintain proper environmental conditions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including correct refrigerant recovery, handling, and documentation practices.
- Utilize technical drawings, manuals, schematics, and regulatory guidance to perform work according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and refrigerant recovery documentation in accordance with established procedures.
- Coordinate with facility personnel and maintenance team members for scheduled maintenance and response to HVAC service requests.
- Adhere to safety requirements and best practices related to HVAC systems, electrical work, and environmental compliance.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management in support of facility maintenance operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an HVAC mechanic, with expertise in diagnosing and servicing a wide range of HVAC systems and components.
- A valid EPA Section 608 Technician Certification for refrigerant recovery and one of the following HVAC certifications: NATE, HVAC Excellence, or CHD.
- Strong understanding of HVAC system design, airflow principles, refrigerant systems, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, drawings, and regulatory documentation.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a clearance.
Qualifications
- Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 pounds, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and adjusting focus.
- Must be able to work in a noisy environment.
