Position Summary
We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Lead, this role involves performing repairs and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and assisting with industrial equipment. The position requires adherence to OFI’s safety principles and procedures.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, visual inspections, minor repairs, and calibrations.
- Troubleshoot and perform major mechanical repairs such as changing motors, pumps, gearboxes, belts, sprockets, pulleys, and other mechanical components.
- Diagnose and address root cause faults in mechanical systems to identify and correct machinery and system failures.
- Address urgent breakdowns and repair safety or food safety concerns promptly.
- Prioritize safety and food safety for self and others.
- Communicate with the maintenance team to provide timely repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Perform daily inspections and walk-throughs of production lines.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, PMs, and maintenance checks.
- Manage parts inventory and requisitions for maintenance-related supplies.
- Follow safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company standards for employee and food safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years’ work experience in the food manufacturing industry, repairing and maintaining packaging equipment, electrical controls, and ancillary equipment.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Completion of Industrial Technical courses in maintenance/electrical repair.
- Strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Effective in a fast-paced environment and responsive to instruction and supervision.
- Available to work flexible shifts, hours, and overtime.
- Forklift driving experience a plus.
- Certified HNI Forklift Driver.
- Ability to perform and comprehend verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work in various conditions including hot, cold, wet, and confined spaces.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
Pay and Benefits
