About the role
This is a highly customer service oriented position in which employees should strive to exceed customer expectations. Perform a variety of work in the maintenance, repair and preventative maintenance of buildings and machinery/equipment including carpentry, electrical, plumbing and painting tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
- Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other parts of building structures.
- Perform minor plumbing and electrical work not requiring license.
- Clean and perform scheduled maintenance on Physical Plant rotating equipment.
- Assist others with repairs requiring two or more people.
- Aid Campus Safety with fire alarm calls when necessary.
- Submit work requests for building maintenance needs not requiring prompt attention.
- Perform basic computer checks/changes on campus Energy Management Systems.
Requirements
- Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Must have general knowledge of campus procedures for emergency situations.
- Must be a problem solver and operate according to safety regulations on campus.
- Perform Life/Safety inspections.
Qualifications
- Limited Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree or work experience equivalent.
- Experience: One year of experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
- General knowledge of campus procedures for emergency situations.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse constituencies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to function under stressful conditions and/or high volume with short turnaround.
