Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician at our Longview manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, or replacing mechanical equipment or mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical devices and components. Additionally, the Mechanic will often fabricate any mechanical devices or items which will requiring shop skills or tools as requested. The successful candidate will communicate continuously with department managers and employees to coordinate mechanical and electrical repairs.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot electrical problems and run conduit and wire for plant equipment
- Lift up to 50 lbs., stoop, bend, and work at heights
- Operate a forklift and a high lift
- Work collaboratively with other employees and demonstrate willingness to learn
- Maintain knowledge of conveyor systems and components (belts, bearings, sprockets, gear reducers)
- Apply hand tool knowledge, welding, cutting, and minor fabrication skills
- Communicate timely any problems or issues affecting plant performance to management
- Perform work independently with minimal supervision
- Perform basic plumbing on machinery and/or equipment
- Maintain a team-based attitude with fellow co-workers and managers
- Maintain plant fire system
- Document calibration and configuration procedures to allow production equipment to run efficiently within product specifications
