Maintenance Mechanic Days and Nights

The Maintenance Mechanic position at Ocean Spray's Markham Processing Plant operates a 12-hour shift from 4pm-4am or 4am-4pm, rotating weekends off, on a 36/48 hour schedule. Starting pay is $35.05 per hour.

About the role

Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. - Markham processes Sweetened Dried Cranberries (Craisins) and handles Fresh Fruit and Cranberry Receiving. The Maintenance Mechanic is expected to develop into an Electro-Mechanic or Master Mechanic within two years.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, installs, rebuilds, and repairs any and all plant equipment
• Performs general repairs on building and supporting systems
• Uses hand and power tools to repair/replace faulty equipment
• Diagnoses electrical issues using multi-meter, other defined tools and equipment manuals, and replaces electrical components that are similar to each other during a failure
• Accurately pulls information and inputs data into CMMS system
• Carries out basic boiler maintenance and ammonia systems
• Fabricates parts using proper machining equipment and welds broken equipment and tools
• Practices 5S and maintains good housekeeping
• Assists other maintenance personnel with duties as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by management personnel

Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, without supervision, and may be required to work alone. They should have the skills, ability, and knowledge to maintain, install, rebuild, and repair all plant equipment, and gain the capabilities and knowledge to operate plant equipment under repair.

Qualifications

Must have fundamental troubleshooting and replacement of electrical components, controls, and automation skills. May not replace Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) or motors greater than 25 HP without prior communication with the Maintenance Supervisor and further consultation/review by the Maintenance Supervisor and a licensed Electrician.

Skills

Electro-Mechanical skills, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
