About the Role

The maintenance mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on various types of production equipment. This includes dismantling, moving, and installing machinery as required while complying with company operating, safety, and housekeeping procedures, practices, and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes mechanical, electrical, and operational problems on equipment, plans for, and takes corrective action to ensure equipment maintains maximum production and quality standards.
  • Notifies maintenance department manager and operations supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions, corrective action taken, and quality problems or supplies needed.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance when equipment is not in use for manufacturing and assists operations team with changeovers as necessary.
  • Tests equipment to verify operation, clears jams, and sets aside product for inspection and rework. Proves out equipment function after repairs, changeovers, or extended downtime.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance checks and inspections, reports findings to supervisor, and takes appropriate action.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints to plan, set up, and operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, saws, and presses to produce parts to close tolerances and company specifications.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot mechanical and pneumatic equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, mill machines, and machine shop equipment.
  • Fabrication and blueprinting skills for part creation and machine maintenance.
  • Ability to read and write in English with strong communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Work conditions involve contact with sharp tools, rotating equipment, oil, and various lubricants.
  • Requires climbing, crawling, and kneeling in and around machines to perform preventative or production maintenance repairs.
  • Must be able to use hand tools and trade-type tools.
  • High mental and visual effort required.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds or more at a time.
  • Job involves standing for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work overnight and possibly some overtime when needed.
