Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic B ensures production equipment operates safely, reliably, and optimally. This role observes equipment to recommend improvements and maintains GMPs. It collaborates with supervisors, leads, and team members to achieve accuracy and quality.
Essential Functions
- Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment promptly and accurately, minimizing downtime.
- Complete work orders, requisitions, and preventive maintenance accurately and with excellent craftsmanship.
- Promote safety practices and maintain GMPs within the department.
- Train mechanics and maintain clean, organized workspaces.
- Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with all levels.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor.
- Must be able to withstand cold (40-48 degrees) and hot (80+ degrees) environments.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to perform tasks such as pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, and crouching/squatting.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have at least five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in the food industry.
- Must be able to perform basic math functions.
- Must be able to comprehend equipment manuals and instructions.
- Must have a solid understanding of electronics and PLCs.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and read electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Must have fabrication and mill/lathe knowledge.
- Must have knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels, including management.
- Must be able to work independently and make decisions based on deviations from procedures.
- Must be able to operate forklifts and pass company assessments to obtain a license.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
