Maintenance Mechanic
Position Overview
We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support our production and processing equipment at our 24/7 manufacturing facility in Westfield, NY. This is a union position with a pay rate of $25.54 per hour.
Where You'll Work
This position functions out of our 24/7 manufacturing facility in Westfield, NY.
What You'll Do
- Maintenance of production and processing equipment, refrigeration, boiler room, waste plant, building maintenance, and seasonal preparation.
- Ensures high quality and safety standards are met.
- Demonstrate expertise with the maintenance requirements of plant processing, production, and seasonal operations through a thorough and continuing evaluation of production, processing, and seasonal requirements, techniques, procedures, facilities, and equipment.
- Maintain constant contact with production and processing operators and supervision to obtain maximum machine uptime.
- Train other mechanics in the proper setup, adjustment, and maintenance of production, processing, and seasonal support equipment and supervise them to accomplish maintenance requirements.
- Execute preventive maintenance programs and suggest modifications to the Plant Engineer for approval.
- Recommend and initiate changes to improve equipment operating performance and perform job estimates.
- Assure that maintenance operations are carried out within established housekeeping and sanitation procedures, and applicable government regulations.
- Participate in all regular meetings as scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
- Demonstrate ability to safely work on and around complex, highly automated machinery in a non-temperature regulated environment.
- Strong troubleshooting, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively present to other maintenance supervisors, technicians, and operators.
- Cross-functional demonstrated skills in Electrical, PLC, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Motors, motion control, and mechanical systems.
- Experience in food manufacturing desired.
- Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma a plus.
- Proactive and able to work independently.
- Able to work all shifts in a 24x7 operation.
What You'll Need
- Minimum of (5) five years related, applicable experience with machine maintenance and repair.
- Solid record of safety and continuous improvement in an industrial setting.
