About the role
As a Roll Maintenance Mechanic, you will assemble and disassemble gearboxes, install, align, adjust and fit subassemblies, and set up and operate boring bars, drill presses, milling machines and honing machines. You will work with large, heavy manufacturing equipment and safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts. This is a third-shift position reporting to the department supervisor within a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and disassemble gearboxes and related subassemblies
- Install, align, adjust and fit subassemblies to specifications
- Set up and operate boring bars, drill presses, milling machines and honing machines
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely and efficiently
- Apply inspection techniques and use inspection tools to verify quality
- Use micrometers, functional and cylindrical gauges, indicator setups and scales
- Use torque wrenches to adjust or install parts and equipment per established procedures
- Identify and address inconsistencies in parts, equipment or processes to prevent defects
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors in writing and verbally
- Learn new systems quickly and understand how parts relate and impact system functionality
Requirements
- High school education
- Three to five years of manufacturing experience
- Ability to work third shift
- Knowledge of papermaking machinery is a plus
- Willingness to train motivated candidates
