Maintenance Mechanic

TOMRA North America, an international recycling company, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at its Rotterdam NY facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial machinery and buildings, including conveyors, power transmission systems, hydraulic balers, granulators, air compressors, docks, doors, and dock levelers.
• Repair and/or replace motors, speed reduction/gear boxes, chain drives, rollers, belt lacing, and belts using industry-standard methods for installation (alignment and tensioning).
• Make repairs or replacements to air handling systems using blowers of various types.
• Fabricate, repair, and install all types of guarding on material handling equipment at the plant.
• Repair building plumbing systems and their components.
• Fit, install, and repair all types of piping and tubing systems, including black iron, plastic, brass, copper, and rubber systems.
• Diagnose and replace electric circuits and systems, such as motors, fuses, circuit breakers, contactors, sensing switches, and devices, control wiring, and transformers.
• Proficient in reading schematics and drawings.
• Repair and replace failed lighting circuits and components.
• Rig and move equipment and parts or components for installation or replacement using chain falls, hoists, forklifts, and tele-handlers.
• Safely strap and use chains to secure equipment or material for lifting.
• Use electrical test devices safely and appropriately.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance.
• Prior certifications as an operator of material handling equipment (forklifts, telehandlers, loaders, etc.) preferred.
• Experience rigging and moving equipment.
• Training in electrical safety and/or NFPA 70E preferred.
• Experience maintaining and repairing material handling equipment and powered industrial trucks (forklifts and loaders) preferred.
