About the role
This senior-level position is responsible for advanced mechanical maintenance, complex troubleshooting, and high-level repair of production and facility systems at our Lakeland plant. The Maintenance Mechanic II will diagnose root causes, perform precision rebuilds, lead preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, and support continuous improvement initiatives with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Install and repair plant operating systems, including high-speed packaging equipment, processing systems, and industrial ovens.
- Perform complex troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct precision mechanical work: bearing installation, shaft and coupling alignment, chain and belt alignment, gearbox rebuilds, and machine-level adjustments.
- Diagnose root cause failures, recommend corrective actions, and document repairs thoroughly.
- Fabricate components via cutting, welding, machining, and blueprint interpretation.
- Execute predictive and preventive maintenance: vibration analysis, thermal inspections, lubrication systems, and equipment rebuild schedules.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480V, including motors, sensors, relays, and control wiring.
- Perform intermediate PLC diagnostics: read ladder logic, identify input/output faults, and assist in programming changes under guidance.
- Maintain and configure variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor starters, and instrumentation devices.
- Respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime, collaborating with production, engineering, and leadership to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Train and mentor Mechanic I personnel in best practices, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance procedures.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, GMP, Food Safety, and plant safety standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical degree, trade school certification, or advanced industrial maintenance coursework strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in continuous manufacturing or food production.
- Demonstrated expertise with hydraulics, pneumatics, drive systems, conveyor technology, and packaging machinery.
- Proficiency reading mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
- Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, PLC diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
- Advanced skill in machine repair, fabrication, welding, machining, and precision alignment.
- Strong communication skills; ability to work independently or lead small groups.
- Safety conscious; follow OSHA regulations and comply with GMP and Food Safety standards.
- Ability to operate forklifts, hoists, aerial lifts, and other industrial equipment.

Pay
Individual base pay ranges from $32.07 to $39.70 per hour, depending on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
