Maintenance Mechanic

Overview

Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.

Responsibilities

• Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on diesel and electric mobile equipment, hoisting equipment, mining equipment, and waste handling equipment at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant.
• Follow all safety procedures, regulations, and policies.
• Promptly report any hazards or unsafe conditions to management.
• Maintain qualifications and training to perform assigned duties.
• Pass a Pulmonary Function Test to qualify and work in a respirator in contaminated areas.

Minimum Requirements

• A high school graduate or equivalency is required.
• Four (4) years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience in a commercial or industrial environment or four (4) years of industrial maintenance training/education is required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances.
