Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and plant facility equipment
- Perform repair, troubleshooting, or general maintenance work on various types of pumping systems, compressors, generators, reactors, heat exchangers, filters, and agitators
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on production equipment, including valves, electric motors, pumps, gear boxes, and vehicles, machines, and plant facilities
- Install and repair electrical components such as switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, VFDs, motor starters, and electric motors
- Examine parts for defects, replace defective parts, and reassemble equipment
- Perform repairs and fabrication of piping systems using MIG, ARC, and TIG welding techniques
- Assist with the installation and troubleshooting of PLC-controlled automated systems, including actuated valves, pumps, flow meters, scales, and associated interlocks and safety systems
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs during machine service
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
- Detect faulty operations, defective materials, and report any unusual situations to proper supervision
- Perform building and grounds maintenance including lighting, HVAC, masonry, plumbing, and minor electrical
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- Associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is a plus
- 2+ years of experience in operating processing plant environments such as food processing, chemical processing, or pharmaceuticals, or training equivalent required
- 2+ years of forklift experience preferred
- 2+ years of experience/training in making repairs on typical chemical processing equipment

Pay
The estimated salary range for this role in Santa Maria, CA is between $18.00 - $28.00 per hour. Nutrien evaluates candidates based on their qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors to determine the final compensation.
