Maintenance Mechanic
About the role
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing machinery in a plant or factory setting. Key responsibilities include responding to mechanical issues, completing maintenance projects, reading and understanding technical documents, and adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Responsibilities
- Respond and react to mechanical issues in the production environment in a timely and efficient manner.
- Complete maintenance projects - PM tasks and work orders as assigned.
- Read electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams.
- Write parts requests, complete work orders, and write corrective work orders.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Keep a clean work area.
- Perform building inspections and routines.
- Communicate with other team members.
- Perform Lock-Out-Tag-Out when necessary.
Requirements
- Minimum 2-4 years work experience in a maintenance environment.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
- Good communications skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of industrial tools and test equipment.
- Proven ability to repair industrial maintenance components such as motors, pumps, gearboxes, belt and chain driven components, etc.
- Basic knowledge and comprehension of PLC troubleshooting.
- Ability to work overtime with little notice and be on-call before/after normal business hours.
- Working knowledge of welding, machining, plumbing, pipefitting, electricity.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Must be able to work at heights from ladders or scissor lifts.
- Should be able to understand blueprints and drawings.
