About the role
The role of a Maintenance Mechanic at Starbucks involves assisting the maintenance team and supporting all aspects of the maintenance department as needed. This includes general building and grounds maintenance, installation of new equipment, completing plant work orders, part lists, and preventive maintenance, ensuring all plant equipment functions at optimal levels, and troubleshooting and repairing machinery.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the installation of all new equipment.
- Complete plant work orders, part lists, and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure all plant equipment is functioning at optimum levels by performing short-term repairs and long-term improvements.
- Support food safety, legality, and quality programs.
- Maintain product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications, and quality procedures.
- Perform other duties as needed in support of business objectives and Starbucks Mission & Values.
Requirements
- Automated manufacturing or distribution environment (5 years)
- General industrial maintenance and electrical systems (5 years)
- Experience repairing and maintaining high speed packaging equipment (2 years)
- Knowledge of welding, plumbing, and machining
- High school diploma/GED, US military service or equivalent
- Ability to work variable shifts to support business needs
- Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality, and sanitation standards, policies, and procedures
- Ability to communicate technical and operational issues clearly and concisely
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical plant equipment
- Understanding of mechanical and technical equipment manuals
- Ability to work in elevated areas with ladders, roofs, overhead lights
- Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision
- Basic math skills
- Attention to detail
- Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (21 CFR 117) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)
- Experience with BRC or SQF certification schemes

For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
