About the role

The Maintenance Technician, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, maintain, and repair food processing and packaging equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair food processing and packaging equipment and associated components
  • Installs and maintains gearboxes, shafts, bearings, bushings, sprockets, sheaves, belts, and general mechanical equipment. Performs equipment lubrication
  • Installs and maintains electric motors, motor starters, sensors, switches, and general electric/electronic devices
  • Troubleshoots and maintains pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Analyzes mechanical operations of production equipment and initiates maintenance and repair actions as needed
  • Uses Computerized Maintenance Management System to report completed work
  • Generates parts requisitions using parts inventory control system
  • Completes preventive maintenance routines as assigned
  • Identifies root cause of problems. Proposes and implements solutions

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Able to perform precision alignment of pumps, motors, gearboxes, sprockets, and sheaves
  • Able to perform basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Able to read schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and be results driven, proactive, able to work effectively individually and within a team
  • Excellent communication skills, able to clearly articulate issues, opportunities and risk
  • Able to analyze problems and error conditions, identify root causes, and implement viable long-term solutions
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Qualifications

  • High school Diploma/GED
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial mechanical experience or completion of craft apprenticeship or an Associate’s Degree in a maintenance-related field
  • Equivalent combination of education and paid on the job experience in an industrial maintenance shop will be considered
  • Must have strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, and be familiar with common shop equipment and tools
  • Be able to use measuring devices and have basic computer skills

Pay

The salary range for this role is $36.88 - $38.15 per hour plus $2.00 shift differential

Schedule

Core Hours: 10:00pm-6:30am
