Work Location: Itasca

Schedule

2nd Shift, 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM. Position requires the ability to work overtime, including varying start/end times and weekends based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Disassembles, inspects, reassembles, troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces malfunctioning parts or equipment (motors, switches, sensors, input/output boards, controllers, servos, gears, sprockets, chains, knives, etc.) using test equipment and meters such as VOM, megger, amp probe, and PC.
  • Cleans, lubricates, and adjusts guides, flap tuckers, sealing jaws, sensors, servos, and timing for process systems of packaging equipment to improve efficiency, quality, or operation.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance procedures as per schedule.
  • Installs change parts (pockets, flap tuckers, film folding shoulders, etc.) on production machinery to accommodate different sizes, shapes, or products.
  • Reads blueprints, diagrams, programs/ladder logic, and machinery manuals to diagnose problems, identify parts, and learn proper equipment operation.
  • Installs new equipment.
  • Actively identifies and resolves problems in assigned areas to prevent critical issues, with high supervision.
  • Communicates equipment conditions by completing maintenance records, sharing knowledge with incoming mechanics at shift change, and informing supervisors of significant problems.
  • Collaborates with Production personnel to promote teamwork.
  • Improves work-related skills through external education or company-provided programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to understand detailed instructions.
  • Able to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Working knowledge of machinery repair practices, shop practices, hand/power tools, and electrical testing instruments.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Completed Maintenance Certification.
  • Problem-solving skills to adjust variables in standardized situations.
  • Good attitude, flexibility, and willingness to perform tasks as needed.

Pay

$38.00 per hour plus a $0.58 per hour shift differential.
