About the role

As a Maintenance Mechanic at KIK Consumer Products, you’ll keep production equipment operating safely and efficiently. You’ll perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and respond to equipment issues to minimize downtime. You’ll inspect, test, and service a variety of manufacturing equipment while helping drive safety, reliability, and continuous improvement throughout the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Independently identify and repair equipment issues within assigned area with minimal supervision
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Experience with troubleshooting bottling, filling equipment and gantry palletizers
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and provide quick & innovative solutions for mechanical equipment breakdowns by applying proven skills in the principles of mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metal fabrication, machining, troubleshooting, and analytical problem solving
  • Promptly respond to equipment-related issues with a customer-oriented manner
  • Perform general electrical repairs including wire connections, relays, photo-eyes, solenoids, working with 120v–480v; diagnose and wire up motors and troubleshoot variable speed drives; must be able to properly use a multimeter and read schematics
  • Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections
  • Modify, repair, install and troubleshoot various conveyor systems including roller, belt, intralox, gravity, and chain plate type
  • Diagnose, rebuild, troubleshoot and replace various pump types
  • Experience with using CMMS (MaintainX) and documenting emergency and planned work with good communication skills
  • Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot various types of machinery, equipment and facilities in the processing & packaging departments
  • Setup, takedown, and relocation of Process and Packaging equipment
  • Frequently modify packaging & process equipment for new products
  • Provide solutions to routine or unique equipment problems
  • Experience with general shop tools and fabrication including use of grinders, saws, presses, lathes and mills

Requirements

  • 2 or more years’ mechanical experience in a high-speed packaging and/or manufacturing environment required (food industry is highly preferred)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to perform in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Time management and organization; ability to multitask and react to changing priorities

Physical Capabilities

  • Occasionally exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force (up to 1/3 of the time)
  • Frequently applying 10 to 25 pounds of force (from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time)
  • Regularly required to handle objects weighing up to 10 pounds throughout the shift (2/3 or more of the time) for moving objects
  • Must have the ability to perform the following: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling
  • Must be able to visually inspect parts and hear audible alarms and equipment signals, with or without accommodation

Pay

Competitive pay range of $30.00–$32.00 per hour, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Schedule

Onsite opportunity based at the Mars, PA manufacturing facility, supporting 1st Shift (Monday–Thursday 9:00 am–5:00 pm, and Friday 6:00 am–3:00 pm), with overtime opportunities available.
