Caribbean Food Delights, a high-speed frozen food manufacturing plant located in Tappan, Rockland County, NY, is seeking a hands-on mechanic for the first and second shifts.
Responsibilities
- Follow and adhere to GMP and safety rules of the company; follow confined space procedures.
- Check boilers and HVAC systems to ensure correct operation before start-up and after shut-down.
- Verify air compressors and refrigeration systems are at correct temperatures at daily start-up.
- Disassemble and assemble kettles, machines, and equipment (including Rademaker and Colborne lines) using hand tools; clean and lubricate daily.
- Set dyes on Rademaker and Colborne lines according to specifications during daily startup.
- Check and replace lighting throughout the plant weekly.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on Sifters of both Silos monthly.
- Inspect equipment components for repair or replacement; clean and lubricate regularly.
- Maintain inventory of all components needed for equipment maintenance.
- Examine machines and equipment to ensure consistent operation within specifications.
- Evaluate equipment performance and recommend improvements to the Engineer or President.
- Set up equipment and conveyors by adjusting to product specifications; test setups.
- Maintain packaging quality by inspecting in-process and finished production; verify specifications and make adjustments as needed.
- Align equipment parts if necessary and keep records of repairs and maintenance.
- Perform repairs and general upkeep of the facility.
- Order replacement parts and materials using company procedures.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports on an ongoing basis.
- Return all tools to the shop at the end of each workday.
- Comply with OSHA/USDA/HACCP Safety and Health rules at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Caribbean Food Delights.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Technical Training or equivalent.
- Minimum five years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of installation, servicing, and repair of production equipment and PLC.
- Ability to read schematics, diagrams, electrical, and welding plans.
- Must be eligible to work in the USA.
