Maintenance Manager - Transit (ASE Required)

About the role

The Maintenance Manager will report directly to the Director of Maintenance and will be responsible for the management and coordination of maintenance for a fleet of commercial passenger vehicles. This includes owning the scheduling and review of all vehicle maintenance with in-house and 3rd party maintenance providers, reviewing all repair details and costs, controlling roadside response efforts, and overseeing all regulatory compliance inspections of the organization's fleet.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs (e.g., adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions, and oil, temperature, gas regulating components; adjust/test/rebuild engines) within qualification level, adhering to all relevant Federal, State/Provincial, and local guidelines and requirements.
• Oversee and comply with local maintenance and safety SOPs, locally applicable public authority legislation, regulation, and standards, ensuring maintenance staff follow them.
• Utilize and supervise the local use of WeDriveU EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) ERP application to record and track local maintenance work orders and parts inventory.
• Manage preventive maintenance and “unscheduled” repairs for the vehicles serviced by this facility.
• Represent the maintenance activity at the local level in its interaction, communication, and coordination with other local operations functions: driver care, route operations, and customer care.
• Supervise the maintenance staff.
• Ensure compliance with local applicable DOT regulations for Medium/Heavy Trucks.
• Employ and continuously train staff in EV-specific systems and maintain ASE L3 certification standards.

Requirements

• Minimum five years of recent experience managing a fixed route or paratransit fleet; experience maintaining a fleet of 70 buses or more.
• Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining a qualified maintenance program.
• Experience with Eldorado or equivalent paratransit or fixed route buses.
• Completion of Automotive Service Excellence certifications (A1-A9, H8) or equivalent manufacturer training and certifications related to vehicle operations (preferred but not required).
• Diesel Engine Repair experience (5 years).
• 5 years’ experience with a fleet management company (hard requirement).

Qualifications

• ASE Certification as a Master Automotive Technician and/or a Master Truck Technician (preferred).
• Microsoft Office with robust experience in Excel.
• Strong electronic filing, documentation tracking, and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and consistent formatting.
• Self-motivated and driven problem solver.
• Multiple years’ experience in transportation, preferably in passenger transportation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Work experience with a mechanical background and aptitude.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Logistics, and/or Transportation (preferred).
• CDL not required but preferred.
