Maintenance Manager/Head Plant Engineer

About the role

Southern Textile Service is seeking an experienced Head Plant Engineer / Maintenance Manager for our South Hill, VA facility — a family-owned regional company serving customers since 1934. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and schedule the maintenance team, including emergency coverage
• Build and improve preventative/predictive maintenance programs; track KPIs like uptime, MTBF, and MTTR
• Oversee boilers, air compressors, and plant utility systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-driven systems
• Support capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

• 5+ years of maintenance experience, including 3–5 years leading a team
• Strong knowledge of several of: boilers, air compressors, hydraulics/pneumatics, electrical/PLCs, welding
• Strong communication and troubleshooting skills; ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs
• Associate's degree in engineering preferred, or equivalent experience

Pay

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 annually
