About the Role

As a Maintenance Manager with Liberty Packaging, you will lead and develop a Maintenance team in their performance of day-to-day operations. This position is accountable for achieving maintenance results in a safe manner that aligns with our company's values and objectives, reporting to the Plant Manager at our Phoenix, AZ manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations by leading teams within a maintenance department, including overseeing business objectives, employee placement, providing direction, guiding teams through problem solving and production challenges.
  • Ensure maintenance business objectives are met (safety compliance, preventative maintenance, storeroom accuracy, annual budget, and annual inspection compliance).
  • Lead department or work center teams through execution of observation-based safety programs, emphasizing safety hazard identification and proactive safety measures.
  • Conduct regular safety huddles to communicate initiatives, coach safe practices, and recognize safety accomplishments and behaviors.
  • Support site safety investigations by actively participating in opportunities to maintain a safe work environment, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to established routines and performance standards by effectively coaching and disciplining employees, conducting timely reviews, and maintaining accurate timekeeping records.
  • Manage efficient and effective labor use through employee scheduling and assessing/recommending appropriate use of overtime.
  • Drive continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives by identifying, managing, and assisting with projects, actively monitoring goals, and facilitating teamwork.
  • Coach, mentor, and ensure knowledge is shared across the team, deliver effective training, provide timely feedback, and identify and develop high-potential staff.
  • Proactively escalate issues to facility leadership within internal departments to anticipate challenges and minimize impact on customers.
  • Collaborate seamlessly across business and manufacturing floor teams, demonstrating strong communication and cross-collaboration skills.
  • Support LDI culture initiatives and promote engagement in Safety and Environmental meetings, Community involvement meetings, special projects, and assignments.
  • Collaborate with internal (ES) and external contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution and 5+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years’ supervisory, team lead, and/or project leadership experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, boiler systems, electrical systems, reading schematics, and diagnosing PLC errors.
  • Understanding of CMMS software or equivalent systems.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and additional hours as required by business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (e.g., Business/Operations Management, Engineering or related field).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Active Boiler’s license.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience in Amtech and CTI.
  • Strong process/business acumen and results-driven mindset.
  • Demonstrated leadership and conflict management skills.
  • Relationship-building skills – ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail, measuring with accuracy, and tool or equipment knowledge.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in hot, humid, cold, and dusty manufacturing environments.
  • Must be able to work in crowded spaces and at heights for 4+ hours per shift.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop for 7+ hours per shift.
  • Must be able to stand for 6+ hours per shift.
  • Must be able to walk for 6+ hours per shift.
  • Must be able to reach and grasp for 6+ hours per shift.
  • Regular sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day to accomplish tasks.
  • Manual and finger dexterity used regularly with some repetitive finger motions.
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision; ability to identify colors, small letters, and numbers; hand/eye coordination, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing and speaking abilities.
  • Other conditions may include frequent reaching, stretching, pushing, pulling, pinching, grasping, and gripping.

Pay

The starting base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $137,500 per year. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of posting. Pay may vary based on education, certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
