Maintenance Leader (Second Shift)

About the Role

Support product manufacturing by assisting with direction and coordinating the maintenance activities of all departments at Magna Powertrain Sterling Heights. This role covers all aspects and functions related to maintenance of equipment and facilities to comply with MPTSH standards, MIOSHA regulations, ISO14001, and the requirements of all interested parties to minimize and remove risk.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities and supervision of the Maintenance Department.
• Manage daily activities of Maintenance personnel, ensuring continuous improvement through training, mentoring, coaching, and process improvements.
• Oversee safety, quality, predictive, and preventive maintenance of machines and equipment.
• Assist with managing scheduling, materials, and labor required for machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to meet production schedules.
• Ensure compliance with an effective Preventive Maintenance (PM) program.
• Attend and participate in required meetings (e.g., Mafact, Fast Response).
• Drive cleanliness and orderliness of Maintenance areas.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and submit improvement suggestions (CI, Safety).
• Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, including TS16949, ISO14001 (EMS), and the Employee Handbook.
• Follow MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E., Confined Space, Hot Work, etc.
• Report unsafe conditions to Supervisor.
• Lead hourly employees in the Maintenance Department.
• Assist with overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of direct reports, including interviewing, training, mentoring, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five years minimum experience in CNC/Press machine maintenance and related machinery.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical.
• Knowledge of MIG and ARC welding and use of cutting torches.
• Ability to read hydraulic and lube schematics.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Able to work additional hours as required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations pertaining to the job.
• Own tools needed for performance of maintenance functions.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain Forklift, Manlift, and Crane Licenses; previous experience required.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and procedure manuals. Ability to document forms as required and speak effectively with employees and customers.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office, AS400, and ability to use bar code labeling systems.
• Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
