Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Coordination
    • Direct work: Act as the on-the-floor technical lead during assigned shifts, directing and coordinating the work of maintenance technicians on complex or high-priority repairs.
    • Escalation ownership: Serve as the escalation point for difficult troubleshooting calls across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems; own the diagnosis through resolution.
    • Mentorship: Mentor and train technicians on advanced diagnostic techniques, safe work practices, and equipment-specific knowledge; help develop bench strength across the team.
    • Cross-team coordination: Partner with the Maintenance Supervisor, Reliability Engineers, and Facility Supervisor to prioritize work, plan major repairs/rebuilds, and align on root-cause corrective actions.
    • Project leadership: Lead or actively participate in planned shutdowns, PM events, and equipment installations/relocations, coordinating labor and sequencing of work.
    • Standards: Model and enforce safety standards, lockout/tagout, and quality expectations; hold the team accountable to procedures.
  • Mechanical & Electrical
    • Troubleshooting & repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on equipment, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
    • Diagnostics & repair: Troubleshoot and repair 24V–480V control and power circuits, motor controls, VFDs, servo drives, and industrial power distribution equipment to the component level.
    • Schematics & safety: Read and work from electrical schematics, ladder logic, and wiring diagrams; safely perform live and de-energized troubleshooting per NFPA 70E and site LOTO procedures.
    • Installation support: Support panel builds, wiring upgrades, and electrical infrastructure improvements on production and facility equipment.
  • Automation & Reliability
    • PLC/HMI: Troubleshoot and support PLC-based control systems, HMI interfaces, sensors, and networked I/O across production lines.
    • Reliability collaboration: Work with automation technicians and the Reliability Engineer to improve machine reliability through controls-level root-cause analysis.
  • Ownership & Documentation
    • Primary ownership: Serve as the primary maintenance owner for the operation, covering mechanical, electrical, and automation/controls.
    • Program build-out: Establish and maintain PM routines, spare parts recommendations, and troubleshooting documentation specific to the equipment.
    • Vendor coordination: Coordinate with equipment OEMs and specialty vendors for systems as needed for major repairs or technical support.
    • CMMS (Fiix): Document all work performed, findings, and parts used in Fiix CMMS in a timely and accurate manner; close out work orders with sufficient detail for trend analysis.
    • Data quality: Recommend and help maintain PM schedules, spare parts inventory levels, and equipment documentation (manuals, schematics, SOPs).

Requirements

  • Education & Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, electrical/electromechanical technology, mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
    • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment, with demonstrated depth across mechanical, electrical, and automation/controls disciplines; prior lead, senior technician, or informal leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills
    • Mechanical: Advanced troubleshooting of mechanical power transmission, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
    • Electrical: Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, VFDs/servos, and NFPA 70E safe work practices.
    • Automation: Practical experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks; ability to read and interpret ladder logic.
    • CMMS: Comfortable working in a CMMS for work order management, PM scheduling, and documentation.
    • Blueprint/schematic reading: Skilled at reading mechanical, electrical, and P&ID/schematic drawings.
  • Leadership & Professional Skills
    • Informal leadership: Demonstrated ability to direct the work of others, coach less-experienced technicians, and drive accountability without formal supervisory authority.
    • Communication: Clear, direct communicator able to coordinate across shifts and with supervisors, engineers, and vendors.
    • Ownership: Strong ownership mentality; willing to take on ambiguous areas and build structure around them.
    • Decision-making: Sound judgment under pressure during downtime events; able to prioritize and make decisions with incomplete information.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and work in elevated or confined spaces; frequently lifts/moves up to 50 lbs.
  • May require off-shift, weekend, or on-call response to support production and emergency repairs.
