About the role

The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee the safe and efficient operation of the production and maintenance process. Safety is a condition at Pilgrim’s, meaning the safety of team members comes first. Safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are implemented, including social distancing, daily temperature screens, face coverings, and enhanced cleaning and sanitation.
Responsibilities
- Document and report all downtime events to your supervisor.
- Estimate resolution time for each issue.
- Communicate all information to management as requested in a professional manner.
- Ensure maintenance employees properly utilize their time, including breaks and lunches.
- Conduct PM audits and ensure all PMs are completed for your shift.
- Foster a teamwork mentality between shifts and departments.
- Communicate outstanding and resolved issues to the incoming shift.
- Send a daily recap documenting occurrences for the day.
- Direct employees to address all issues.
- Assist with all issues as necessary.
- Notify your supervisor of any crew-related issues involving company policies and expectations.
- Follow through with all directives from your supervisor or maintenance management.
- Assist maintenance supervisors and management as needed.
- Assist production with any issues they may need help with.
- Maintain housekeeping and 5-S standards for all areas of the production floor, shop, and outside areas around the plant.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Forklift, pallet jack, and man lift certification.
- Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) training.
- SAP training.
- People First training participation.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, or kneel.
- Frequently required to talk or hear.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
Protective Equipment
- Hair net, beard net (if necessary), gloves, smock, slip-proof boots, and ear protection.
- Additional PPE may be required depending on the job.
