About the role

The Maintenance Lead provides both Maintenance and Reliability services within the plant, championing executional excellence and asset health improvement efforts. This role ensures results while partnering with the MFI ARM team, plant maintenance personnel, operational teams, and other support teams. The Maintenance Lead will oversee work orders in the CMMS backlog, ensuring effective planning and scheduling, and will mentor technicians to execute preventive and corrective maintenance with excellence. This position requires compliance with safety work rules, food safety, and quality policies, and may require working weekends, holidays, or scheduled work times as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance team members and tasks to continuously improve personal safety, quality, delivery, and cost to achieve company objectives.
  • Engage and develop the asset care team to deliver expected levels of reliability.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the MFI & ARM culture.
  • Execute and champion Precision Maintenance® techniques, ensuring procedural compliance and meeting job tolerances.
  • Identify, develop, justify, and implement reliability and performance improvement projects.
  • Coordinate and facilitate maintenance and reliability training for team personnel.
  • Lead or assist craftsmen during maintenance assignments and technical troubleshooting tasks in a teaching environment.
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks with excellence.
  • Utilize MFI-approved CMMS to manage, document, and support reliability reporting and decision-making.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records (e.g., SAP data, training documentation).
  • Provide input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to foster continuous asset reliability improvement.
  • Promote and model Michael Foods culture, values, and principles, demonstrating safe work behaviors.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions, follow GMPs, and ensure product quality is upheld.
  • Ensure required regulatory compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate, or equivalent experience demonstrating technical aptitude, preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an industrial maintenance technician preferred.
  • Trained and competent in MFI MTL1, MTL2, & MTL3 skills preferred.
  • MFI People Leadership Essentials or equivalent training preferred.
  • Active Society of Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) membership preferred.
  • Prior experience in SAP preferred.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management, and administrative follow-up skills.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposure to a noisy environment with temperature variations from hot to cold.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $34.68 to $43.86 per hour.
