About the role
This position plays a critical role in overall farm operations, focusing on farm maintenance and ensuring the effective functionality of manufacturing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Aggressively manage all breakdown maintenance requirements to successful conclusions.
- Schedule and direct the day-to-day activities of maintenance mechanics via the department’s work order system to achieve safe, timely, and satisfactory work.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of manufacturing equipment functionality and schedule necessary repairs or suggest changes in operating methods to improve plant operations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the department’s preventative maintenance procedures.
- Oversee work in progress by outside contractors to ensure adherence to plans and specifications.
- Track, measure, and document the performance of maintenance mechanics on an individual basis.
- Lead, develop, and motivate maintenance mechanics in troubleshooting and repairing processing, facility, and utility equipment.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent (required), with at least 6 years of industrial maintenance experience or advanced education in electrical, mechanical, or electronics engineering.
- 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, requiring knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, industrial electrical and mechanical systems, maintenance, and process controls and equipment.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to facilitate solutions with limited direction.
- Excellent planning, organization, customer service, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build strong, trusted working relationships with internal and external business customers and executive-level management.
- Basic computer literacy with the ability to perform basic statistical analysis.
- Experience communicating factual information and providing direction.
- Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong commitment to safety with the demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve safety and productivity goals.
Schedule
- Routinely work 5 days a week plus occasional weekends and holidays.
- 8-hour rotating shift position (may include holidays, weekends, or midnight shifts).
- Experience working in a 24/7 operation preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Work with chemicals, such as detergents and disinfectants.
- Standing for extended periods of time (6 hours).
- Grip, grasp, or twist using hands and wrists.
- Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Bend and stoop repetitively throughout shift.
- Prolonged exposure to dry and dusty environments.
Work Environment
- Routine handling and interacting with live poultry.
- Ongoing presence of farm-related smells or odors.
- Climate exposure, both hot and cold.
- Working in damp and/or wet environments.
- Working in a loud/noisy environment.
