About the Role
Atlas Molded Products is seeking a 1st shift Maintenance Lead for the Kansas City, KS facility. This role involves performing preventative functions, repairing or replacing machinery, and serving as an advanced technical resource in a maintenance specialty such as fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, or controllers.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all new and existing equipment or machinery operates properly.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues to identify root causes.
- Rebuild and reseal components as needed to ensure functionality.
- Assist in repairs to buildings or grounds.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all machinery as scheduled by the Maintenance Manager.
- Work off-shift hours as necessary to perform maintenance around the production schedule.
- Assist with manufacturing and installation of new equipment.
- Properly document maintenance performed in eMaintenance for accurate record-keeping.
- Serve as an advanced technical resource in a maintenance specialty (e.g., fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, controllers).
- Lead projects or shifts to accomplish maintenance goals as directed by the Maintenance Manager or General Manager.
- Order parts and work with outside vendors as required.
- Adhere to all safety best practices, including lock out/tag out procedures.
- Operate forklifts and scissor lifts within established safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Supply hand tools required for the job.
- Perform any other assigned functions and responsibilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- May oversee day-to-day activities and schedules of department personnel.
- Does not have hiring or firing authority but may make recommendations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
- Experience with maintenance or mechanical systems preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with general maintenance/mechanical systems and associated safety procedures required.
- Advanced knowledge and experience within a given specialty (e.g., boilers, fabrication, controllers) required.
Skills & Abilities
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to use simple math and basic handheld measuring tools.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work in groups.
- Problem-solving skills applicable to mechanical systems.
- General understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, equipment operations, safety requirements, and departmental procedures.
- Valid driver record and insurance coverage to enable legal and safe driving of company vehicles.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Moderate to heavy physical effort, including sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps or ladders, and reaching forward or above head level.
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to safely operate assigned machinery.
- Tolerance for temperature changes for the entire shift.
Additional Information
- Must be verified by a supervisor to sign off on procedures within 2 months of hire.
- Additional training may be required as recommended by the Maintenance Manager or Division General Manager.
