Maintenance Lead Associate
About the role
Works with the Maintenance Manager to ensure the Seward facilities and equipment are maintained within applicable building and fire codes. Facilities include the office, company warehouses, The Adventure Center, and company housing.
Works with maintenance staff to maintain and organize the maintenance shop and warehouse facility.
Assists with the new and used oil collection and distribution program. This includes conducting vessel oil sampling, vessel and vehicle oil changes, and maintaining adequate filter inventory.
Conducts small engine repair projects as required to support the Marine Operations.
Affords assistance to the Maintenance Manager at Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge on Fox Island when needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills + Abilities
- Good understanding of operation of heating systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems, data networks, security systems, and phone systems
- Good knowledge of materials, regulations, and construction techniques for commercial buildings
- Good knowledge of food service (DEC) requirements, basic fire-fighting techniques and equipment, and guest safety management
- Experience dealing with guests and/or the public, including the ability to answer questions, direct them in case of emergency, and anticipate their needs
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance, small engine repair, and diesel engine operation
- Knowledge of basic line handling techniques and common marine knots
Physical Abilities
- Physical ability to climb ladders, crawl, kneel, bend, twist at the waist, and stand on uneven surfaces
- Must be able to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds with on a regular basis
- Enter and operate in confined spaces
- Operate power tools
- Operate in environment with breathing apparatus
- Operate company vehicles
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Preferred training, some training or experience, construction, electrical, phone, security, heating, plumbing, or computer network systems
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required
- Able to obtain a DOT Medical Card
- Experience in hospitality, tourism, or attractions environments is a plus
