Responsibilities
- Assist the maintenance engineer in developing preventive, predictive, and autonomous maintenance plans for equipment throughout its lifecycle, including specifying and updating maintenance task frequencies.
- Inspect equipment thoroughly, write work requests for defects, and recommend repairs to the maintenance team.
- Ensure timely completion of inspection, lubrication, cleaning, and part replacement activities to detect or prevent equipment deterioration or shutdowns (guided by manufacturer recommendations, supplier input, and experienced personnel).
- Provide technical support and follow-up for major and specialized maintenance jobs.
- Ensure all planned maintenance and operational tasks in the plant are executed as specified and monitor job quality.
- Promote continuous improvement in equipment maintenance and administrative procedures.
- Collaborate with supervisors to evaluate and improve sampling points for availability and reliability.
- Assist in training and developing maintenance department personnel.
- Collect and analyze maintenance data to investigate repetitive damage and assess the effectiveness of preventive and predictive procedures.
- Work with the maintenance engineer to enhance procedures and perform root-cause analysis.
- Assist in specifying new equipment to ensure operational reliability and lifecycle efficiency.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to modify existing equipment for improved performance, reliability, and cost-benefit optimization.
- Support the Maintenance Coordinator in planning major shutdowns, including training, estimates, materials, tools, job duration, and manpower requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5–7 years of experience in a heavy industrial environment; maintenance training is a plus.
- Knowledge of industrial equipment such as belt conveyors, ball mills, and kilns is helpful.
- Heavy mechanical background with a strong understanding of machinery.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
- Ability to spend 75% of the workday in the field around industrial equipment.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand, walk, climb ladders/stairs, and work in extreme temperatures and noisy environments.
