Reports to: Area Leader/Team Leader
About the Role
Work in a variety of areas, in production and packaging, to produce product for the company.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
- Produce high quality products in a safe and healthful manner.
- Assigned shift attendance is required.
- Work in all areas of production and packaging, as assigned, which includes operating, being in close proximity to and crossing platforms over machinery.
- Ability to work as part of a team and assist fellow employees as needed.
- Review, follow, and write Job Safety Analyses and safe practices for the area.
- Manage scheduled on-shift and downtime maintenance work.
- Assist with identifying and ordering spare parts.
- Assist planner/scheduler with scheduling maintenance activities of team members, contractors, and other outside services.
- Make adjustments and repairs to machines to maintain operating efficiency and reliability.
- Perform preventative maintenance, some on shift and some on weekends.
- Write and complete work orders for the area.
- Adhere to all Safety, GMP, Sanitation, Quality, and Team rules and procedures.
Requirements
- Must be able to report to work on time and work the entire scheduled work period or shift; timely and regular attendance is required.
- Must be able to successfully handle and manage stress.
- Accustomed to and able to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, complex, and busy environment.
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to act.
- A “can-do” mindset and attitude is a must.
- Must be flexible and able to work additional hours when workload, deadlines, production requirements, shift coverage, or overtime demand it.
- Consummate team player attitude of sharing and helping others; must interact positively, professionally, and cooperatively with others.
- Clear understanding and working knowledge of mechanical & electrical systems, electrical schematics, power distribution & controls, motor & motor controls, and other industrial controls.
- Desire to work in a Team-Based Environment.
- Good communication skills; communicate with clarity, pertinent content, and required skills (e.g., talking on 2-way radios and telephone).
- Understand and communicate team and area goals and objectives.
- Ability to follow directions independently and provide clear instructions to fellow team members.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback with sensitivity, using questions and information to further team goals.
- Commitment to principles of a team-based work environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to initiate and complete work assignments with minimal supervision.
- 3 or more years of experience with a mechanical aptitude.
- Weekend maintenance is expected.
Qualifications
- High-school degree or equivalent is required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, GMP's, and general instructions.
- Good communication skills are required.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out both oral and written instructions.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand and lift; stand and walk at minimum 70% of the time.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts.
- Must occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry up to fifty (50) pounds; frequently lift 30-35 pounds.
- Must be able to squat, kneel, and bend on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to work in cold and hot environments.
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to flour and yeast materials.
- Must be able to climb steps on a frequent basis.
- Must have the ability to perform essential job functions consistent with safety standards and practices, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
- Cold and hot environment.
Pay
Start rate: $34.00 per hour. $5000 retention bonus.
