Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience & training in skill areas of grounds maintenance, mowing, snow removal, repairing, painting and fencing/sports park maintenance
  • Knowledge of standard practices, tools and terminology while caring for grounds, trees, shrubs, flowers, etc.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, hazardous materials, and proper ways necessary to perform assigned tasks
  • Ability to maintain, drive and operate medium truck, mowers, lawn, farm and turf equipment
  • Valid Kansas driver's license with a good driving record
  • Ability to follow instructions, get along with others and work effectively without constant supervision
  • Good physical condition and ability to lift 100 pounds
  • Ability to perform work independently & dependably according to prescribed standards & technical procedures
  • Ability to work in varied weather & temperature conditions & to work from heights

Physical/Emotional Requirements

  • This position is classified as heavy work (level 4)
  • Exerting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, or 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly

Performance Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance work with varied levels of skill in order to effectively maintain the Sport’s Park buildings, grounds, and equipment in a timely manner
  • Assigned to district high school for 8 weeks over winter months
  • Able to work occasional evening & weekend events held at the Sports Park as required
  • Performs related duties as assigned
