About the role

Performs installation, maintenance, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical systems, equipment, lighting, controls, and related building systems throughout the school district. Works in a safe, efficient, and timely manner to keep building components functional and compliant with applicable codes and safety standards. Provides assistance to Building Supervisors with electrical maintenance, projects, repairs, inspections, and other building support functions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled electrical work in the maintenance, repair, modification, installation, and construction of electrical systems and equipment throughout public school facilities and district properties.
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces electrical wiring, circuits, panels, switches, receptacles, lighting systems, motors, controls, emergency power systems, and other electrical equipment.
  • Performs preventative electrical maintenance, repairs, and services on all electrical and related systems in the district.
  • Assists with HVAC mechanical tasks, including installing, maintaining, and repairing air‑conditioning and refrigeration equipment, towers, pumps, piping, and sheet‑metal fabrication.
  • Installs, repairs, maintains, and services electrical systems and components such as wiring, panels, switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, controls, motors, and related equipment.
  • Operates hand tools, power tools, machines, and mechanical systems.
  • Operates and transports heavy equipment, including tractors with loaders, dump trucks, aerators, small and large area mowers, and pick‑up trucks pulling heavy‑equipment trailers.
  • Assists in all aspects of a project—design, layout, material requirements, cost and labor estimates—and accurately orders and accounts for material and labor.
  • Makes suggestions and recommendations and informs building supervisors of any concerns or issues.
  • Salts and plows during winter months for secondary campuses and elementary schools as needed.
  • Responds to emergency situations, vandalism, power failures, storm damage, and water‑pipe failures.
  • Performs all assigned work in a safe manner, using required safety equipment and maintaining tools in safe operating condition.
  • Maintains equipment, work space, and job sites in a clean and orderly way.
  • Complies with district policy, local, state, and federal laws and procedures for the use, storage, and disposal of waste, cleaners, chemicals, and other products and materials.
  • Assists with district‑assigned lawn areas, including cutting and trimming around buildings, fences, and trees.
  • Performs tree and shrub maintenance, including planting, transplanting, trimming, removal, and disease control.
  • Assists with preparation of athletic fields for sporting events, including cutting, dragging, line painting, and for summer sports and band camps.
  • Unloads materials, supplies, and equipment when received.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and in accordance with school policy, administrative regulations, and state and federal laws.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a training program (required).
  • 5–7 years of extensive maintenance experience (preferred).
  • All employment is provisional for 90 days as required by Act 168 of 2014.
  • Must submit Act 168 form to all current and former employers where you have had direct contact with children.

FLSA: Non‑Exempt | Terms of Employment: 260 days / twelve months | Employee Group: Support / Compensation Agreement | Location: District Wide.
