Maintenance I&E Technician

About the role

The IE Technician troubleshoots and maintains operating units to drive process and product improvements. This role involves maintaining equipment, performing preventive maintenance (PM), and troubleshooting. The candidate is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned production units, maintaining plant assets, and ensuring production targets are met.

Responsibilities

• Visibly support and promote the INEOS 20 Principles and the Culture of Prevention.
• Ensure all activities comply with company, local, state, federal, health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Ensure maintenance activities are planned and executed in accordance with site environmental requirements.
• Identify safety improvements for pre-existing processes.
• Provide safe work permits to contractors working on or around equipment in the plant and maintenance buildings.
• Verify clear understanding of work scope, review potential safety or process reliability hazards, and take appropriate action to initiate safety reviews (e.g., temporary job plan, confined space, hot work).
• Respond to emergency protocols during shutdowns and startups.
• Monitor overall program compliance for integrity programs and coordinate craftsmen to support these programs, ensuring completion prior to due dates.
• Support maintenance of asset condition per INEOS Asset Care guidelines.
• Coordinate with Asset Work Execution Supervisors on larger, more complex jobs, including reviewing work scope with Operations, Execution Forces, and Planner/Schedulers.
• Troubleshoot failed or underperforming equipment to identify and eliminate root causes.
• Serve as an elevated technical resource in maintenance repair techniques for the asset.
• Ensure PM compliance by craft, schedule compliance, and backlog management for the asset.
• Provide support to engineering project teams installing, modifying, or affecting IE & A equipment in the plant.
• Follow project progress to ensure correct installation of IE & A equipment with proper parameter settings.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 5 years of maintenance-related experience in a plant.
• Electrical and Instrumentation designation or NCCER Electrical and Instrumentation Certification.
• Current, valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident).

Skills

• SAP experience in Plant Maintenance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite tools.
• Strong working knowledge of process and personal safety and health practices in the petrochemical industry, including:
  • Energy isolation and lockout/tagout.
  • Work permitting and confined space entry.
  • Working from heights and hazard communication.
  • Lifting and hoisting, incident reporting and investigation, and MOC.
• Working knowledge of instrument, electrical, and analyzer standards in the petrochemical industry, including various Codes (e.g., API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA, ISA).
• Familiarity with technical documentation for instrument, electrical, and analyzer design and equipment.
• Ability to assess work sequencing, optimize work planning, scheduling, and cost.
• Experience executing preventive maintenance plans.
• Ability to read P&IDs.
• Instrumentation Experience:
  • Knowledge of instrumentation installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs, schematics, and loop drawings.
  • Experience using HART communicator and documenting calibrator to verify instrument settings.
  • Knowledge of PLCs (especially Allen-Bradley), ladder logic, control valves, HART field devices, and Emerson Delta V BPCS/SIS or related DCS platforms.
  • Familiarity with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) maintenance.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation for temperature, pressure, mass flow, and level, including DP, Coriolis, Vortex, Ultrasonic, Nuclear, Radar, and Magnetic instrumentation, along with associated equipment such as control valves.
• Electrical Experience:
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting equipment with voltages up to 12.47kV.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID, Relay Drawings, Electrical One-Lines, and Loop Drawings.
  • Knowledge of testing and maintenance of VFDs, transformers, large electric motors, UPS systems, low and medium voltage switchgear, and low and medium voltage motor control centers.

• Physical Requirements:
