About the role

Chippewa Manor is seeking a reliable, professional maintenance employee to perform general maintenance and custodial duties on its senior living campus. This position also provides property and equipment support. The ideal candidate will have the ability to learn how to operate and troubleshoot HVAC equipment, motors, pumps, boilers, fire alarm systems, laundry equipment, generators, plumbing and electrical systems, communication and dietary equipment, thermostats and utilities components. Cross-training to assist in other areas may be provided as needed. This position works under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager and requires individuals to have manual dexterity, physical stamina and the ability to work alone or in team environments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair facility components, furniture and equipment using carpentry, plumbing, painting and electrical trade skills
  • Perform safety checks and regular preventative maintenance
  • Removal of snow and ice from driveways and walking paths using tractor snow-blower or other appropriate equipment
  • Assist with general landscaping and lawn care
  • Prepping, placement and repair of concrete work and stone pavers
  • Maintain required records of hours/materials expended for each job or project
  • Assist with remodeling projects
  • Perform emergency and on-call duties as needed
  • Transfer of trash/recyclables to appropriate areas
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and committed to excellence
  • Mechanical knowledge and ability to operate tools of the trade
  • Willingness to learn new skills and methods and follow safety procedures
  • Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of the job
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license with current Wisconsin insurance coverage
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (prefer formal training in building trades)
  • Ability to problem solve on the go
  • Ability to cooperate, communicate and work well with others
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of information pertaining to residents and clients

Status and compensation

This is a full-time (40-hrs/week), primarily a day-shift position (may include some evenings and weekends). Compensation is hourly, based on qualifications and experience. Paid twice monthly. Immediate supervisor is the Director of Maintenance.
