Maintenance Foreman
About the role
Transdev is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy-Duty Fleet Mechanical Supervisor to join our dynamic team. This position offers a competitive compensation package of minimum $75,000 - maximum $80,000 annually, along with comprehensive benefits including vacation, sick days, holidays, and various standard benefits.
Responsibilities
- Supervises maintenance shop employees.
- Participates in hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management decisions.
- Reviews work orders, assigns tasks to employees, and verifies the quality of work performed.
- Counsels mechanics on techniques and procedures.
- Maintains records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed and ensures proper data entry into the RTA system.
- Schedules work based on routine preventive maintenance inspections.
- Procures parts necessary to complete repairs within assigned limits.
- Refers larger purchases or major repairs to the Maintenance Manager.
- Conducts employee observations, discusses findings with employees, inspects buses and tools, and maintains a safe and productive work environment.
- Follows all safety policies and procedures, occasionally road tests vehicles to determine repairs needed.
- Available to work Night Shift.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Five (5) years of progressive heavy-duty fleet mechanical experience.
- Two (2) years of experience in supervisory capacity as a fleet mechanical supervisor.
- A valid commercial driver's license in the state where you are applying to work.
- Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
- A broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy duty transportation vehicles.
- Familiarity with laws/regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities.
- Strong organizational and labor relations skills.
Physical Requirements
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions - 100% of the job is performed outside.
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day).
- Frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
- Lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
- Bend, kneel, or crouch to file or equipment stored at ground level.
- Work in heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
- Tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
