MAINTENANCE FOREMAN

About the role

The Louisiana State Penitentiary is seeking a Maintenance Foreman to join our dedicated team supporting public safety.

Responsibilities

• Engages in and/or supervises skilled inmate craftsmen in performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and masonry work.
• Maintains and repairs buildings, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and effective operations.
• Assigns and inspects work, ensures compliance with safety standards and departmental policies, maintains work orders and records, and coordinates projects with institutional staff.
• Supervises maintenance personnel and works effectively in a structured and secure environment.

Requirements

• Two years of experience or training in building construction trades, maintenance, or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.
• Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the field.
• Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or a combination of these courses plus two years of experience in the field.

• Strong leadership, organizational, and technical skills.
• Ability to supervise maintenance personnel and work effectively in a correctional environment.

Skills

• Proficiency in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and masonry work.
• Knowledge of safety standards and departmental policies.
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
