Maintenance Foreman
About the role
The Maintenance Foreman at Westville Correctional Facility is responsible for the repair and preventive maintenance of the facility. The role involves full-service maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds work. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours per day.
Responsibilities
- Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
- Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
- Oversee and participate in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities.
- Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements.
- Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
- Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.
- Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
- Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates should have broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing, and painting trades. They must also have the ability to plan, schedule, and supervise job sites, read and analyze blueprints, and adhere to OSHA standards and safety protocols. Candidates must also have a valid driver's license and possess the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
While a degree is not required, candidates should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group and requires a high level of judgment and care in supervising incarcerated individuals.
Skills
Essential skills for this role include the ability to plan, schedule, and supervise job sites; read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and remediation plans; and adhere to OSHA standards and safety protocols. Candidates should also have the ability to plan and estimate project proposals, endure exposure to inclement weather, delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.

Pay
