About the role

As the Maintenance Equipment Supervisor, you will lead a team of maintenance and calibration technicians responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and compliance of equipment used in the production and testing of animal health products. You will operate within USDA and EU GMP regulatory frameworks, overseeing installation, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of critical machinery and instrumentation. Your leadership will optimize equipment performance, minimize downtime, and foster a culture of safety and asset care.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor a team of maintenance and calibration technicians, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Prioritize and coordinate equipment care activities to ensure minimal disruption to production schedules.
• Conduct regular inspections and assessments of equipment performance, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Implement a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance program, including task assignment and documentation.
• Monitor adherence to maintenance and calibration schedules, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.
• Ensure compliance with USDA and GMP Standards by maintaining accurate records of equipment maintenance and calibration activities.
• Coordinate with regulatory affairs and quality assurance teams to facilitate inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
• Promote a culture of safety, including conducting regular safety training and toolbox talks, and ensuring proper PPE usage.
• Participate in reducing and actioning HSE CAPAs and assign the development of required HECPs.
• Oversee the site’s Maintenance Training program, including skills assessments, identifying skill gaps, and ensuring proper training is conducted.
• Manage the development and sustainment of simulation equipment, learning labs, and training centers.
• Oversee the identification, selection, scheduling, and management of on-site contractors, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Review and approve contractor documentation of work performed and associated fees.
• Manage the department’s mobile equipment, including trucks and golf carts, ensuring proper registration, insurance, maintenance, and repairs.
• Monitor and evaluate team performance, holding technicians accountable for KPIs and providing constructive feedback.
• Generate reports and performance metrics to track departmental performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology certificate, or related field preferred.
• 1-3 years of manager/supervisory experience in a manufacturing operation.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards, including USDA and GMP Guidelines.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Technical proficiency in troubleshooting and overseeing repairs of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and utility systems.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other maintenance software.
• Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Certification in maintenance management (e.g., CMRP) or relevant trade certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical) is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking, climbing, talking, and hearing; ability to sit and use hands/fingers for keyboard tasks.
• Regular standing, walking, and climbing ladders/stairs to access different areas of the site.
• Close vision required for monitoring equipment, observing employees, and reviewing documentation.
• Periodic lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Exposure to various job sites, including clean lab and manufacturing environments requiring protective clothing and gear (e.g., shower in/shower out).
• Indoor and outdoor work with exposure to weather conditions and certain chemicals.
