About the role
HMTX Industries is a company dedicated to global design and innovation, servicing various construction and renovation markets with top-tier flooring products. As a Maintenance Engineering Technician, you will be part of a dynamic team making a difference.
Responsibilities
- Production Maintenance (80%):
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on material-handling equipment (conveyors, wrappers, sealers, automated systems, forklifts).
- Maintain parts inventory and detailed service records.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, replace worn components, and keep machinery properly lubricated.
- Address equipment-related safety concerns in partnership with the safety manager.
- Cook up preventive maintenance schedules and support new equipment setup or modifications.
- Facility Maintenance (20%):
- Perform routine maintenance and general repairs around the building (structural damage, windows, doors, wall repair, painting, locks, access control and security cameras, plumbing fixtures, HVAC systems).
- Inspect equipment and facilities to identify maintenance and repair requirements, hazards, code violations, and priorities.
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency service calls, diagnose problems, and make minor repairs or utilize outside vendors when necessary.
- Estimate and procure compatible materials and tools required to perform maintenance, repair, and construction-related functions.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and OSHA regulations and assist the safety team when needed.
Requirements
- Experience as a Production Maintenance Technician, with skills in automation, light electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and general maintenance.
- Forklift certification required; experience with boom/scissor lifts preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring schematics, and technical manuals.
- Comfortable using CMMS software and basic mobile/PC technology.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask.
Skills
- Expert understanding of building mechanical systems.
- Developing knowledge of mechanical and electronic equipment calibration.
- Commercial HVAC understanding.
- Troubleshooting pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
- Preventive maintenance principles.
- Reading blueprints/diagrams.
- Safety inspections, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or trades certificate is required.
- OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred.
- Forklift certification.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $32 to $36/hr. This range is applicable for jobs performed in the Eastern and Central Time Zones. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, and business organizational needs.
