Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, modify, and perform preventative maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems to identify, locate, and isolate equipment failures and restore equipment to proper operating condition.
  • Perform daily inspections of electrical and electronic devices and instrumentation necessary for machine performance, process control, and quality production.
  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment and control systems associated with the shingle production line and other plant equipment.
  • Maintain plant instrumentation, including temperature controllers, recording devices, concentration transmitters, level controls, flow control devices, sensors, and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Review electrical drawings and assist with ensuring documentation remains accurate and up to date following equipment modifications.
  • Use electrical meters, test equipment, and diagnostic tools effectively to troubleshoot equipment and make sound repair decisions.
  • Communicate equipment issues, troubleshooting findings, and recommended solutions to Maintenance Supervision and Engineering.
  • Assist Engineering and Maintenance with electrical equipment modifications, installations, and process improvements.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of spare parts and backup components for electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment in coordination with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Complete daily shift inspection and repair logs and communicate relevant maintenance activities and equipment concerns to supervision and other plant personnel.
  • Assist the maintenance team with mechanical and general maintenance activities as needed.
  • Follow all company policies, plant procedures, and safety requirements, including proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Support and promote a strong reliability culture through proactive maintenance practices and effective communication.
  • Work collaboratively with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and other plant personnel to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Promote a positive team environment and appropriately address safety, quality, and performance concerns with peers.
  • Attend training and travel as needed based on business and operational requirements.
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical equipment, controls, instrumentation, and industrial machinery preferred.
  • Experience with PLCs, motor controls, sensors, or automated manufacturing equipment is preferred.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, industrial equipment, controls, instrumentation, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to systematically diagnose electrical and electronic equipment issues using schematics, meters, testing equipment, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate potential causes, and develop effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, technical manuals, procedures, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, basic computer skills, and ability to enter information into maintenance systems, spreadsheets, or other electronic records.
  • Proficient in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, electrical meters, testing equipment, and other maintenance-related tools.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical training, vocational education, or certification in electrical systems, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the Maintenance Electrician is regularly required to communicate verbally and hear effectively. The role frequently requires:

  • Standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Grasping, performing fine and gross motor movements, and reaching both forward and above head level throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Working in varying temperature conditions and safely operating assigned machinery.
  • Regularly pushing, pulling and/or lifting up to 75 pounds.

$30.00 - $39.00 per hour
