Maintenance Electrical Tech 6 - 1st shift - Waverly Plant

Pay: $33.05/hour + $2 attendance bonus

Schedule

• Rotating 12-hour shift (3-2-3 schedule)
• 1st Shift: 5:30 am – 5:30 pm or until completion of assigned work

About the Role

The Electro-mechanic technician is responsible for testing controls of all new and existing electrical control and safety systems in the plant, water treatment area, and all external buildings. This role involves PLC troubleshooting of new and existing systems, as well as maintaining existing alarm systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot VFD systems within the plant.
• Work closely with maintenance electricians for conduit and wiring changes and installations.
• Maintain the camera system in collaboration with maintenance electricians.
• Troubleshoot all PLC systems.
• Implement all control system changes and follow through to completion.
• Collaborate with maintenance fabricators on MIG, TIG, and Arc welding projects.
• Troubleshoot and maintain all conveyor systems and controls.
• Troubleshoot and maintain all pneumatic systems and controls.
• Troubleshoot and maintain all hydraulic systems and controls.
• Work closely with Refrigeration to troubleshoot ammonia system problems, including transducers and control systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot existing alarm systems, including severe weather, fire, security, and ammonia alarms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Certification in any technical field or techniques is a plus.
• Thorough knowledge of troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to work independently.
• Attention to detail and ability to solve practical problems.
• Good safety and attendance record with strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated skills in AC/DC circuits and industrial electrical systems.
• Experience in electrical safety and lock-out/tag-out processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of electronic devices such as industrial semiconductors, solid-state drives, and industrial control systems.
• Experience in the operation of PLC systems and control/data collection instrumentation and transducers.
• Working knowledge of tools and components used in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems (e.g., bearings, gears, clutches, belts, seals).
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems.
• Ability to repair pumps and fluid control systems.

Qualifications

• Training beyond high school, including either an Associate Degree in Electronic Technology, Electromechanical, or a closely related technical field, or a combination of education and experience (e.g., skilled trade programs, military training, or other applicable training).
• Basic microcomputer skills to understand microprocessor operation and interfacing characteristics.
• Experience in PLC operation, including basic system configuration, hardware, relay equivalent instructions, timers, counters, data manipulation, data communications, advanced programming commands, interfacing, troubleshooting, and program development.
• Demonstrated skills or training in electronic motor drive technologies, including servo-motors, encoders, tachometers, electronic and mechanical brakes and clutches, closed-loop systems, DC servo, AC variable frequency, AC servo, and stepper systems.
• Ability to use test equipment, including but not limited to multimeter, megger, vibration analysis tools, infrared scanners, and sonic testers.

Skills

• Competent in Windows-based software such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Strong skills in document organization, using document templates, and creating simple queries.
• Proficient or ability to become proficient in CMMS Systems.
• Good mechanical skills and familiarity with AutoCAD.
• Effective communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Standing/Walking: Continuously (8+ hours).

• Lifting/Carrying: Continuously (11-24 lbs.), Occasionally (up to 50 lbs.).
• Bending/Stooping/Squatting/Crouching: Frequently (3-6 hours).

• Corrected vision and dexterous use of both hands.

Physical Environment: Continuously working around moving machinery and in a cold environment (28-34°F).
