Maintenance-E&I Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a Maintenance E&I Technician responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical instrumentation systems within our manufacturing environment. This role requires expertise in both electrical and instrumentation work to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of machinery and equipment. The E&I Technician will perform routine maintenance on sophisticated equipment, work with the Maintenance Manager and Engineering to plan and schedule equipment downtime, and document logs and machine failures.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical instrumentation systems.
• Perform routine maintenance on sophisticated manufacturing equipment.
• Plan and schedule equipment downtime in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager and Engineering team.
• Document logs and machine failures.
• Work with extrusion or lamination machines or comparable manufacturing processes.
• Disassemble and assemble gearboxes and pumps, and identify critical tolerances or dimensions.
• Perform alignment on gearboxes and pumps as needed.
• Adhere to safe working practices, including lock-out/tag-out, confined spaces, and SDS compliance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical and instrumentation roles.
• Experience with industrial process equipment and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with PLC ladder logic and editing, as well as PLC troubleshooting and programming.
• Strong understanding of electrical codes, PLCs, VFDs, and DCS systems.
• Competence in using test instruments such as multimeters, calibrators, and loop testers.
• Knowledge of local, state, and national electrical codes.
• High-level efficiency with hand tools, power tools, drill presses, grinders, etc.
• General understanding of OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
• HS diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification preferred.
• Familiarity with control systems, field instrumentation, and motor controls.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to be on your feet for 10-12 hours.
• Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted.
• Able to reach, bend, kneel, and climb while performing repetitive tasks.
• Ability to work in hot and cold environments.
• Able to correctly wear PPE for entire shifts.
• Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts.
