Maintenance Dispatcher
Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Bald Mountain and the nearby Round Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations. Bald Mountain is an important contributor to the economy of northeastern Nevada and maintains a comprehensive environmental strategy including wildlife protection, habitat recovery, and education.
About the role
The successful candidate will work under the direction and supervision of the Planning Supervisor while coordinating with Operations Dispatch/personnel and the Mobile Maintenance team to achieve daily availability and tonnage targets. A successful candidate will work as a maintenance dispatcher on a rotating shift with an assigned Maintenance crew (Days only).
Responsibilities
- Work in an office environment for 12.5 hour rotating shifts.
- Two-way radio interaction with personnel.
- Use analytical skills and tools (Machine Health Systems: MyCat, MyKomatsu, Prevail, and E-global) to identify equipment issues before functional failure.
- Properly address equipment critical alarms.
- Keep an accurate and detailed list of downed equipment.
- Support supervisors dispatching field mechanics to ensure safe and efficient production.
- Create maintenance work orders.
- Coordinate with Mine Operations to ensure scheduled equipment delivery time compliance.
- Generate daily and weekly reports to support reliability decisions.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn and apply procedures applicable to the position.
- Provide accurate equipment location list to the planning department.
- Understand mining and maintenance processes and communicate with various departments as needed.
- Help troubleshoot equipment problems and guide operators over the radio in a professional manner.
- Manage phone, radio, and computer duties in Dispatch, including understanding code blue procedures and responsibilities.
- Understand Maintenance Organizational charts and resources available.
- Develop understanding of Dispatch systems and capability of running the system:
- Understand how to call equipment down and properly reason coding.
- Understand how to call equipment up and properly reason coding.
- Understand the overall equipment efficiency (OEE) standards for Mobile Equipment.
- Develop understanding of Machine Health Systems and capability of running the system:
- Understand how to extract information.
- Understand how to plot charts and identify potential issues.
- Create Pre-PM reports.
- Quickly react to critical alarms and/or reoccurring events.
- Develop an understanding of JDE Maintenance module and gain the skills needed to efficiently utilize the system:
- Creating work orders.
- Requesting stock parts.
- Properly coding Work Orders.
- Create pre-ops follow-up work orders.
- Generate basic Excel-based reports.
- Handle basic optimization and communicate in a timely manner.
- Request assistance from supervision/management based on events when required.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year experience working for a mining operation (preferable maintenance background).
- High school diploma or equivalent (higher degree is a plus).
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of an open-pit and heap leach mining process.
- Moderate abilities using basic Microsoft computer applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and MS Project) and can navigate through network drives to access folders.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrated history of working with others, displaying a positive attitude, and working as part of a team.
- Satisfactory performance, attendance, and safety record.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information.
- Willingness to develop skills in other areas of responsibility within the Mobile Maintenance Department.
- Knowledge of maintenance crew members and their abilities.
- Well-versed in mining equipment and equipment operations.

Additional Information
This position reports to the Planning Supervisor. Background check and US work permit required. English language proficiency is necessary. Travel to operational site(s) is required.
